Sentaur believes that today, more than ever, it is vital to be a strong steward of the environment. We build our homes and operate our business with this concept always at the forefront.
Sentaur believes that the recipe for building green includes a number of ingredients and is not limited to just one or two products or programs. We are constantly looking for ways to build a more environmentally sound and sustainable product.
It is often said that building affordable and green are mutually exclusive and not possible. We have challenged this belief and have found the opposite to be true. In fact, we cannot afford to build a product that does not adhere to the concept of green building and sustainability.
Protecting Our Environment
Listed below are just a few of the ways we strive to build a product that will make our buyer’s proud while improving the environment of today.
- The protection and preservation of trees and natural features on site during construction
- Recycle 50 percent or more of job site waste
- Use drywells for the collection and treatment of stormwater
- Save and re-use native topsoil
- Implement and protect from erosion during construction.
- Reuse foundation form boards
- Use fiber cement siding
- Use of OSB with low or zero formaldehyde
- Seal air leaks around penetrations
- Seal all joints, seams and rough openings
- Increase attic ventilation
